Footie Challenge Rankings Explained

Competitors are ranked depending on the number of ranking points they have. Points scored over the past three seasons are used to work out the ranking points.

The points scored over the last three seasons are then weighted for each season. The most current seasons points scored are multiplied by 4. The previous season points scored are multiplied by 3 and the season before that, the points scored are multiplied by 2. These are then added up to give each competitor their ranking points.

Competitors are then placed in order depending how many ranking points they have. The competitor with the most ranking points is ranked number one and so on. If any competitors have the same ranking points, then their ranking position will be determined by which competitor has scored the most points in their Footie Challenge career.

Are the ranking points used for anything? Yes they are. The ranking points determine the group allocations for the following season. For example, if there were 5 groups then the top 5 ranked competitors would be split up into the 5 different groups. The next 5 ranked competitors would also be placed in the 5 different groups, but with the emphasis on competitors being in a group where they have played the least amount of times against other competitors already allocated to that group. The next 5 would be done in the same way, and so on.

Note: No joker points are used in any calculations.
